Engineered
Flooring
Engineered wooden flooring is usually made up of an oak top layer called the veneer which comes in a range of thicknesses from 3mm up to 9mm. This is then bonded to a plywood base layer that gives an overall thickness ranging typically from 10mm to 20mm total thickness.
Here at Heart Flooring, we source materials from all over Europe and the UK that are hardwood, multi-layer plywood backed because this creates a much more stable product which in turn increases the longevity of the flooring. The quality of the flooring materials that we source coupled with our expert floor fitting guarantees you the maximum life span for your new flooring. To give you the best possible selection of styles and finishes we source both pre-finished engineered timber and unfinished engineered flooring.
Pre-finished engineered flooring already has colour and a protective coating applied which can then either be oiled, lacquered or both. Once pre-finished flooring has been installed, it does not require any additional finishing other than a clean meaning it is the quickest way to achieve the desired finish to your home.
Unfinished flooring gives you the ultimate freedom of choice as we can finish it on-site by applying oil or lacquer. This allows for colour mixing to achieve richer darker tones or to dull down and make the colour more subtle. This is a much more labour-intensive choice so it is more expensive than using pre-finished flooring, but it does mean that your flooring will be unique.

Laminate
Flooring
Laminate is a fantastic option for the home it is often cheaper than engineered floors and comes in a wide range of colours and textures to give a more realistic appearance. It is often scratch resistant and waterproof or water-resistant depending on the brand you select. Laminate flooring is easy to clean and offers a fantastic transformation to any home.
Laminate flooring is typically made up of four layers:
-
A protective and transparent layer to stop scratches and marks from reaching the second layer which is the design layer.
-
The design layer is an extremely high-resolution photograph that is locked in underneath the protective layer. Laminate flooring comes in a vast range of options such as herringbone, parquet, or wood effect.
-
A high-density fibreboard layer is the backbone of the flooring and gives the laminate its strength and thickness.
-
A waterproof balancing layer that provides support and stops the board from cupping and bowing and increases stability.
As expert laminate floor fitters, we believe that the quality of the product is as important as the fitting. We proudly source and work with some of the best laminate flooring companies in the UK to give you the highest quality possible with an extensive range of prices and colours to suit your project.
